Which descriptions are just the name, please name a few? Also you should not remove components that you don't know you don't need, this is not a Windows documentation. Sometimes there are long operations which need to end before cancel can be seen by the program, but I would like to first see which area was it. That said please let me know when to press the Cancel button to see that error 32 or non-responsiveness? So what error you got basically doesn't matter, other than it looks ugly. Cancelling image editing always ends up in the need to unload without saving and reload fresh, to not have half-edits. You can edit the preset with right-click and see for yourself. So I don't know why would it appear that the presets would have an influence. Location is not stored in presets, but in settings.xml, program settings.

Agreed on the 112 should be a message, that part of program is not hit often, as it usually cannot fail other than no free space, so it never came up. When it detects lack of free space, it will prompt before processing, it's just currently the limit is too low. Location prompt is not needed, as it uses Temp folder at first like any other program, what it should do is check for size more precisely, as you suggested. It's not easy to guess or calculate sizes as we are dealing with compression, and it depends on file types used.īoth packages and image itself are compressed, differently.

Tool is checking for free space on the temp drive, but only 4GB, I should increase that to 10 actually. That is why I said use only Scratch folder part of the settings to point to RAM drive, set Temp dir to a fixed drive with a lot of space, more than 10GB. NTLite mounts a Windows installation, and whatever you integrate will increase the size of that temp folder, also it saves the entire image into it while exporting, so yeah no other program needs that big of a temp folder. But you have to understand that I was trying to determine whether the program is worth buying and I haven't even managed to get it to run!!!! "seems to me two of us complicated this more than needed " - That seems like a good description of how the program is working.

When trying to select which items to include you have item names but often the description of the item is just the name again. I also find that the program lacks information that a user needs.

I like the principal but I have not yet managed to get the program to run to a conclusion. In that time I could have installed the system, customized it and taken an image backup. I think I have wasted over 8 hours trying to use the program.

Is that the result of my clicking cancel or is that something else? How am I supposed to know? I did this at least 15 times and it did not cancel. You cannot expect potential customers to know what you know.įor example, I let a process run and then I clicked on the cancel button. Cleary you know what it does and how it does it. I think it is really great that you produce such a program but as you are now charging for it I think you need to consider how users will use it. I assumed these just held the information on the options I had chosen and I've no idea why I would need to delete them? You did not mention that in your instructions and it did not occur to me to do this. In order to do this I had to delete the presets. I have finally managed to get it to use the areas I set in the settings area. Would "insufficient temporary file space" be a more meaningful error message than error 112? Maybe I'm being stupid but I thought that you would store any temporary files in the output area so it did not even vaguely occur to me that the size of the temp area would be a problem. All I got was an error 112 after it was 87% through the process. Personally I would also display the location as an option the first time the program is run so that the user is aware of the relevance of this location. Would it therefore not be better if it checked on the amount of space available before it runs? If it needs the user to unload files in order to change a location, would it not be better if it did this? The program surely knows what it needs but there is no way I can know that!!!!!!!! I assume that your program knows roughtly how much space it will need for temporary files. In all the years I have been running my systems this way I have never had a problem with any other program. Anyone who uses a ram disk or a small temp partition would have exactly the same problem I have had. Maybe I'm being stupid but I think I followed exactly what you said!īefore I used a ram disk I always used a fixed partition for my temp area.
